My Tiny Wedding: The Venue

I’m married! And I’ve been married for over two months now. 😂

I haven’t been able to write about the wedding day because I’ve been caught up in all the hullabaloo of daily life, but my husband has been reminding me that I haven’t updated my blog in a long time, so I thought it’s high time I finished writing this entry on our tiny wedding’s tiny venue, which was MAGICAL.

Our wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Spoon Eat + Drink, a charming New York inspired restaurant in BF Homes about the size of a studio apartment. I’ve seen Spoon featured in several BF-related articles online and have always wanted to go because it looked like a place I’d love, but only got to when my then-fiancé-now-husband and I decided to check it out as part of our search for an appropriate venue.

Searching for a wedding venue was harder than I imagined. I knew I wanted to book a restaurant that maybe had function rooms for small gatherings, but most of them were either too small, too big, or too expensive. I also knew it had to be in or close to Parañaque because I was convinced I was getting married at the city hall so BF Homes was the most obvious choice.

While searching for a potential venue in BF online, I came across a listicle I’ve previously read on Booky, which featured Spoon. I checked the restaurant’s website and saw on their FAQ that they accept bookings for celebrations. I got excited and immediately got in touch with them on Facebook to make an inquiry and got a response exactly twenty minutes later. I found out the restaurant’s maximum capacity inside is 24, but it can accommodate up to 30 if we also utilize the balcony. They have minimum consumable rates for four-hour and eight-hour events, which I thought were very reasonable, but later found out were actually BEYOND reasonable.

Aki and I arranged to meet with the owner of Spoon that weekend. The restaurant is situated along Aguirre Avenue, so it wasn’t hard to find at all. We went there at 4PM, opening time, and for a while we were the only customers. The moment I stepped in, I knew I found the perfect venue. Aki, too, was smitten by it, and told me, This is so you.

Philane, the owner, was warm and welcoming, much like her restaurant, so dealing with her was a pleasure. We chatted about the concept of Spoon, how it came about, and how she felt like crying when I messaged her about the possibility of holding the wedding there. She told us about our options for the menu and even offered to source the cake for us. So kind!

These photos were taken on our first visit and as you can see, it’s already charming as it is. But even more so on the wedding day.

Philane was kind enough to even style the restaurant and adorn it with white roses, hydrangeas, and baby’s breath. She asked about flowers on our first meeting and I told her the place is already perfect, but if we could, maybe some baby’s breath. So imagine my surprise when I got far more than that!

The photos speak for themselves, so I’d like to talk about another important aspect: the food. My husband is very particular about food, so there’s no way he’s patronizing a restaurant for its aesthetic alone. So when the food in Spoon turned out to be just as great as the interiors, we made up our mind and booked it.

This is what our menu looked like:

Appetizers
Edamame Spinach Lime Dip with Chips
Calamari Rings
Periperi Sticks

Salad
Grilled Tiger Prawn Salad with Tequila Lime Dressing

Main
Roast Chicken with Paprika Grapes
NY Dirty Rice

Dessert
Caramel Cake from Costa Brava, which Philane ordered for us!

Our guests loved the food! When I asked one of my best friends how the food was, she said she was marrying it because it was so good. My father-in-law, towards the end of the reception, said he has never felt so full from eating at a wedding. 😂

I’ve always known I wanted a small wedding, but never did I imagine it was going to be held in such a dreamy location. And for that, I can’t thank Philane and the staff of Spoon Eat + Drink enough for making our wedding even more special. The restaurant itself, the food, and the service were all top notch, and I highly recommend booking them for your intimate gatherings. You won’t regret it. ❤️
